Financial worksheet of every household
dear diary,
when i was younger and was terribly worried about how i would be able to support my family there, i used to have a detailed worksheet of my income and expenses so i would know where every cent of my income went...and how much i could save every pay day... i had to budget everything because i was earning so little... especially, at the start...
and i had to even reduce life each day into the number of hours i spent from the time i woke up to the time i got back to bed... this had to be my daily budget of the time i spent..
and i also had a general outline of what life was supposed to be insofar as the number of years a person spent on doing certain things in his life...
so a day had to go exactly in accordance with this daily budget of time and effort... so i had to start my day at 6 am to wake up... 6-6:30 am to dress up...6:30-7:00am for breakfast, 7-8am for travel to work, 8-10am work, 10-10:15am coffee break, 10:15-12pm work. 12-2pm lunch break, 2-4pm work, 4-4:15pm coffee break, 4:15-6pm work, 6-8pm travel home or recreation, 8-10 pm recreation, 10-12 pm preparing for sleep.... so that was what my daily life was all about....
and then in terms of years, i budgeted life into something like first 6 years childhood, 7 years start to go to school, 7 to 13 elementary school, 14 to 18 high school, 18 to 24yrs or more of college, 25 years get married, then work and save and send children to school, perhaps buy a piece of lot and build a house, and when after all is said and done, you realize you would have grown old....
when we get back to the house and i recover my old papers where i wrote all this budget about my daily and annual life, i will be able to show you how i did it exactly... i did this thing at the time so i would have a general idea of how i could make life more than just work and put some quality time in between to make life more than just a routine we go through from birth to the grave...
i just didn't want to think of life in terms of money i had to make but also in terms of what i wanted to do in terms of other activities which i thought should make life worthwhile.... this was difficult because work demanded so much of my time and my income was not that much... so this is what my worksheet had to look like.... it was not only about income and expenses, but it was also about how to spend every hour of every day of every year of my life... so i found time for study, work, recreation, family, social life, charity work, friendships, family, singing, songwriting and the like....all these activities had to fit into that tight schedule of daily life and the general plan for the number of years i would spend doing certain things till i got old...
well, looking back, i don't think i was such a great success at making money or securing my retirement years, but then all along the way, i think i had enjoyed what i thought would make life interesting at every stage thereof...
maybe, if i had to do it all again, i would plan my life differently...maybe, i'll just devote all my time and effort to making money all the time so when i get to be this old, i would have made as much as i would have needed to spend the rest of my days in luxury, ease and comfort....
so at the end, i could finally say, i am a rich man....
after all, now i realize, it is the end result that counts.... what matters is the peso/ figure that appears after the = sign... just like in the financial worksheet for every household that you sent me...
regards,
bomboy
