Subject: Re: happy birthday
dear adrienne, junix, and annie,
thank you for your call last night wishing me a happy birthday. it so
happened that we were still at work when your call came but i was really
touched by your gesture.
add to this the fact that junix was one of the first to greet me happy
birthday by email coming only second to tita honor who did the same
barely four hours earlier. it was net who made the first call though on
monday yet.
and right before we cut the traditional birthday ice cream cake that
allan, tess, and allen have never failed to celebrate my birthday with
for the last eleven years now, i got a final happy birthday txt message
from tess,allan and allen.
before that while we were driving home we got a telephone call from
virgie another friend in las vegas to wish me a happy birthday. and
before going to bed, i finally read the birthday email from tintin, net
and benjie.
of course, marivic, denise, and beth also called to wish me a happy
birthday and our telephone conversation which lasted for more than an
hour was only briefly but pleasantly interrupted by another call from
new orleans with tita linda on the line to wish me a happy birthday.
tita baby was a few minutes late for work as a result.
my day started when i got a txt message from the philippines from
clarisse at a little past four in the morning which she eventually
followed up by an email birthday greeting. then came email greetings
from butch, rap and justne and liza from toronto, canada and before that
an email from andre, aljon, bing, joanna, and suseth. and another call
from las vegas made by vivian who has never failed to send us christmas
cards every year since she got there and also never fails to call me on
my birthdays.
well, i hope that sufficiently covers everything that has made my
birthday this year as memorable as the ones i have
had before. this year though, junix did not send me his classic feliz
cumpleanos email.
but this time, junix alluded to the point that my birthday is the least
likely to be forgotten by anyone since it is also the birthday of elvis
presley.
also, to the point that his talents as singer, keyboard artist and
composer were left untapped in the producton of the christmas album we
did in 1993 which seems a little bit strange to me if my recollection
serves me right.
firstly because when the album was produced he was no longer in the
philippines, and secondly, because we ventured into song writing only
shortly before he left. and finally becuase i did try to ask him to play
some chords for some of the songs we have already written before he
left.
time did not permit a more extensive collaboration between us than that.
i can only imagine how much better the results could have been if we
were able to take advantage of his musical talents.
well, i still have to go out and play golf so i have to end this now.
once again, thank you all for making my birthday this year one i will
always remember.
